Hey guys - I am a new Analyst at a BB in NY in a top product group (M&A, Lev Fin). I have only been here for what feels like a few weeks, and have been contacted by headhunters several times a week for the upcoming PE recruiting process. I am unsure what to do / how to respond since I really havent done anything at this point.
There was a really good PE recruiting process article posted a while back, and the OP mentioned how important having deal experience is for this process, even when speaking to headhunters this early. What if we dont have any actual deal experience right now? The only relevant thing I have so far is for a Tech LBO that we were a joint bookrunner on with a couple other banks (i.e not a Lead role). Can I run with this for the process or will it hurt me since we had a passive role?
Given that it is already November, I am not sure that I will have the fortune of getting a good deal started up by the time these preliminary recruitng discussions start happening. What should I do in this case? Again - it feels like I have barely been here and my experience so far is very limited.
