All input is appreciated.
This is regarding summer analyst recruiting.
I had a superday with the regional office of a bulge bracket (not NYC). Didn't get an offer. I was told that I'm "Number 1 on the waitlist. In the event that anyone reneges, we'll give you a call."
So far as I was concerned, it was over; I went through the process, and came out without an offer.

TURN OF EVENTS:
I was talking to my uncle, a partner at a PE firm, looking for advice as to how to improve my interviewing skills. The next thing I know, he contacted one of his friends (old college roommate) who is a group head at the same bulge bracket, in a different regional office (not NYC).
Right now, this group head is talking to the regional office that rejected me trying to convince them to give me an offer.
I did NOT want any of this to happen, and if somehow magically the group head succeeds in getting me the offer....I know that for the entire time I'm there everyone in the office is going to be thinking "THE AMOUNT OF NEPOTISM THIS KID USED TO GET HERE IS OUTRAGEOUS. MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T GET A FULL TIME OFFER"

QUESTIONS:
What are the chances of the group head succeeding?
If he succeeds, WHAT DO I DO?
