Here's a little background:
I am a rising junior at a non-target, interning at a Boutique NOT in NYC. I have started to cold-email alumni based in NYC and a few have responded to my requests for informational phone calls. I have one set up tomorrow afternoon.
Here's the deal:
I am going to be speaking with a VP at a BB who is in Wealth Management Technology. He graduated in the 80s from the same non-target as me and is a fraternity brother of mine, so small talk will not be an issue; HOWEVER, I am interested in M&A, not Wealth Management Technology.
My question is this:
How do I go about gaining as much information about the firm as possible, yet letting him know that I would like his recommendation of specific analysts/associates to talk to if I want to network as much as possible for a SA internship for summer 2016? Should I be straight up with him? He did respond within about 20 minutes of my cold-email this morning, so I am not going to be too forward/blunt/rude with him.
Thanks for the help!
