Accounting self-study for future banker

I will be starting an MBA program this fall, and want to get a head start on building the accounting and banking knowledge I will need to succeed in ibd interviews and ultimately as a banker.

It sounds like the Rosenbaum/Pearl book is the banking bible, but it also sounds like it would be helpful to have some accounting knowledge before reading that one. Any suggestions on accounting textbooks that would serve this purpose? I have frankly always found accounting to be pretty confusing in my limited exposure to the subject.

I know there are "crash courses" on these topics available (from WSO and others), but I am the type of person who likes to go deep and really understand things, rather than just knowing the surface level. Also, I am quitting my job in a few weeks and figure this is a decent use of my soon to be extravagant amount of free time.
