I'll be starting at a BB in London very soon and was wondering how important is networking/building relationships with more senior (VP and up) people in your first year? The relationship with sr. analysts and associates comes more naturally I assume since you will be working directly with them on a daily basis. How much of an impact does networking/presence in the office have on your reviews and your ranking?
I did not intern at my bank whereas all the other analysts in my team did, so I guess that puts me at a disadvantage. I also do not know my CRO or "business manager", so was thinking of having a quick coffee with him before I start. Would that considered to be too much? Should I just wait until I hit the desk?
