Richard Ivey Students: How Does IBD Recruiting Work At Our School?

I was wondering how most students get their IBD summer placements. Here are a few questions regarding this:

1. Do most people get their IBD jobs from applying through the career centre? I see from the most recent Ivey annual report that all the BBs (except Deutsche Bank) and some EBs hire Ivey students and I was wondering if this is usually facilitated through the school.

2. Are first round interviews for banks that recruit from the school usually done on-campus?

3. For U.S. recruiting, when you are flown out for superdays, do you usually have to miss classes, and if so, do you have any problems doing so (I know attendance is important since a contribution mark is recorded)? Similarly, do you ever need to miss classes for interviews in Toronto?

4. Which offices of the U.S. banks hire from the school? For example, does Morgan Stanley hire for their NYC and LA offices, or just their NYC office, or just their Toronto office, etc.?

5. Approximately, how many positions are available for LA IBD positions?

6. Approximately, how many positions are available for Toronto IBD positions?

7. Approximately, how many positions are available for NYC IBD positions?

8. Is it true that anyone with about an 84%-85% average is basically guaranteed at least an interview for a summer IBD position from most (if not all) of the banks? I've heard similar things to this from a 1st and 2nd year students, but I'd like to see if anyone who actually went through the process can verify this or let me know if it is just an exaggeration.

9. Do the banks care about your marks pre-Ivey?

10. Do most banks have/participate in on-campus networking events?

I asked a lot of questions, so thank you very much in advance!
