Anybody have any insight on M&A at Barclays? I know there isn't a "pure" M&A group and all the M&A work is done in-house within the coverage groups like at Goldman. Given this setup, does one start out in a coverage group and transition to that groups M&A team? Or do you start fresh as a [insert industry] M&A guy/gal? Any perspectives on the relative strength of the different M&A teams and what team might offer the best experience would be appreciated.
