Mostly due to the fact that I had been ignorant of the standard path towards landing an offer for a competitive internship after junior year until recently, I wasn't able to get into anything relevant for this summer (my sophomore year summer) and have ended up doing manual labor for 40+ hours per week in order to earn some cash.
My question is how much of a disadvantage am I at in terms of recruiting for next summer? I have a 3.8 at a semi-target (Vandy, Emory, Notre Dame) and plan on getting more actively involved in financial clubs/organizations next year. I also am studying abroad in Europe if that helps my case at all.
I'm not talking about an IBD internship on Wall Street (which I realize is basically out of the question) but maybe a MM boutique firm or something along those lines. Any advice on what I can do this summer/in the future to improve my chances would be really appreciated. I'll apologize in advance for my lack of specificity--I'm just beginning to seriously consider and weigh my interests in PWM, IB, S&T, etc.
